 Today we went out to the river near our camp site and set up game cameras and I hope to see at least a deer in one camera, maybe even a bear. What I hope to gain from this experience is to gain a new found respect for nature and push myself to explore parts of the forest I have never seen before. I expect to do a lot of hiking and I am excited to see the places we are hiking to. We are assigned into groups and we are called the foxes, our group is Juan, Grayson, Salone, Monett, and me. The other groups headed out in the other two vans and we were off to our adventures. We decided to set up our camera traps close to our camp because we wanted to see if there was anything nearby, we heard some stories about bears in area

Hike around the river

Blog 8 Sunday- July 14 Today we are heading to take David back home, but first a little hike at the old mill district park. We arrived there at around 9:00 am and there was a river that cut in between the hiking trail. Upper Klamath Wildlife Refuge

7/17/19 Today I woke up around 7 am, today is the day we take a tour of the Klamath River. But first we meet at their research station just a 20 minute drive away. There we met Alex Gonyaw, he goes more into detail about the Klamath River basin. 1820 was the first contact of the native people, there are three tribes of the river basin the Modoc, the Klamath, and the Yahooskin. In 1864 the Klamath boundary was reduced by over 40% of the original size, He talked about the fish   in the lake and how they age them, the fish are almost like trees with counting their rings   you can age some of them by counting the amount of lines on their scales. Two of the fish in the upper Klamath and Lower Klamath are listed in the endangered species act, the people at research station believe they are listed because they are an endemic species and it is easier for this species to be affected because it is only found in one spot. Arrival and Base Camp

Blog 1 07/06/19 Today is the first day of the camping trip and I am unsure of what to expect, I feel like it will be an amazing growing experience. When I first learned about the camp and the time we are going to spend it was two weeks I didn’t understand why it was that long, then last night Jessica was explaining it was for the people who go on the trip to disconnect from the rush at home and I agree. With one week of camping relating to my last camping trip I wanted to go home after one week, maybe with two weeks of camping it will feel like a new experience. A refresher in a busy schedule is important and I believe this will be the break I need from work and home. At campfire Don told some interesting stories about when he was younger and how much times have changed, he talked about the land and how the generation before taught him about how the ecosystem works   and I was thinking how this relates to what I learned at heritage.
